Strength

The Tarot card Strength came to my mind first. I've been drawing my own tarot cards as a tool to learn about Tarot. The strength card is generally depicted with a woman and a lion. Who better to exemplify strength than Tina Turner!

Nita Leland
I've checked out Nita Leland's "The Creative Artist: A Fine Artist's Guide to Expanding Your Creativity" from my local library.
The book is packed with interesting exercises to expand your boundaries. Using both her own art, as well as that of other artists, she's selected numerous illustrations as examples for the points she makes. I'm rereading the chapter on design. She discusses elements and principles of design and suggests keeping a list of these handy to remind you of options to consider when you first develop your design roadmap.

Tea Instead of Coffee
This is a drawing done on the train this afternoon. I did it up-side down from the tea bag packets. It's Monday. I almost left my monthly pass on the train this morning but my fellow commuters alerted me to that. I got to work, prepped my instant oatmeal in the microwave, and decided to have tea this morning instead of coffee. We used to have the K-cups, but they switched the makers out for some other brand supplied by the cafeteria vendor. The coffee is liquid and comes in a box, they insert into a machine. Nowhere near as good as the K-cups. Tea is a nice change of pace.

Even when you get the extra hour back in the fall, everything seems out of sorts the first work day after the time change. Wall clocks are wrong. Stepping out of the office into darkness is a rude reminder that winter is closing in on us. We think we can manipulate time twice a year, but we really can't. One season's parade into the next is inevitable.
